Ella & Tutu in Bavaria

Story by Anna Mares. Doll by Lenna McGraw. Photography by Laura Mares

This weekend Ella and Tutu travel around the beautiful cities of Rothenburg, Ulm and Fussen in Bavaria, Germany.

They have fun at the playground, and pretend they are pirates of their very own ship.

They meet up with one of Tutu’s old preschool friends. Her name is Margret and she is a teddy bear! Ella is friendly and shows her around.

Then Ella and Tutu stumble upon the secret entrance to a mid-evil castle. They decide to explore along the high walls of the castle.

For a while they are lost in the dark, forgotten passage ways! They hold each other's hands and brave the darkness until they find the exit.

Next they walk along the cobblestone streets, where Ella poses for the camera.

Traveling makes the girls hungry, they stop for dinner at a beer garden.

Ella and Tutu order "apfel saft" or apple juice and to their surprise, it comes in a traditional German beer mug.

They sit and enjoy their meal until it is time to wander some more. Tutu takes a fancy to the statue of a bird at the exit.

On their way home Ella and Tutu stumble upon two more shops. The first sells fabrics that mommy will use to make outfits for Tutu.

The other is a bakery that sells "Schneeballan," a fried dough ball with just the right amount of flake. Ella thought it was delicious.

Ella and Tutu are tired from their adventure, luckily Anna offers to carry them on a piggy back ride to the car.

But Tutu decides to say goodbye to Ella. She wants to stay a little longer. Ella will continue her journeys with new friends she finds along her travels. It was a tearful good bye.

If you know of a girl that would like her very own rag doll, let me know and I'll get you in touch with the seamstress.

I love the adventures of Ella and Tutu! Ella is a great model and Anna is a creative author - and to think she is only in Middle School. I look forward to many more stories showcasing your travels.
