Ella & Margaret in Moravia
Story by Anna Mares. Doll by Lenna McGraw. Photography by Laura Mares
This week Ella and Margaret are in Moravia, The Czech Republic.
Daddy gives Ella's hand a squeeze as he guides her through his hometown across the historic cobblestone streets. Ella and Margaret are in for a lot of surprises.
Margaret is wide-eyed as Ella kindly twirls her around for a full view of the center. Just as they beginning to discover Olomouc, they encounter some playful bubbles! All to soon, Ella is reminded of the absent Tutu. Her gloomy expression is too much for Margaret to bear. She gently assures Ella that maybe they can meet up with Tutu later on.
An instant smile lights up Ella’s face at the memories of her dear friend.
Together, they continue skipping up and down the streets searching for a rest stop.
Once they find a comfortable step, they rest their fatigued bodies. Margaret glances upward and her gaze falls upon a sight for sore eyes, a playground!
But Mommy and Daddy tell the girls they must wait until tomorrow to play at the park because they are on their way to visit family for dinner.
They have fun at dinner and the next day set out for the park. After a few zip lines, they are ready to continue.
They briefly stop at a cafe, and feast on Oplatky. Oplatky are circular round wafers famous in Czech spa towns.
With full bellies, Ella and Margaret travel on to their final destination. At the spa town of Luhachovice, Margaret takes a fancy to the beautiful gardens.
Ella tries the famous mineral water, but Margaret doesn’t dare. They know that the water is full of minerals and has a strong taste and smell.
Finally, they finish their journey at a restaurant, where they enjoy traditional Czech food and discuss the details of their upcoming meeting with Tutu in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague!
